WORKSHOP TOPICS
Educational Technology
Presenter: Hamid Pousti
This workshop provides an overview of educational technology, which refers to the combined use of computer hardware, software, and educational theory and practice that aims to facilitate learning. The workshop highlights the importance and timeliness of educational technology in general and specifically related to the MENA region. Additionally, an important goal of this workshop is to identify what practices are currently taking place in the respective countries that relate to educational technology and what the gaps are in order to identify what is needed for future success.
Instructional Design
Presenter: Nikki James
This workshop provides an overview of instructional design, which refers to the systematic development, design, and delivery of instructional specifications through learning and instructional theory in order to ensure the quality of instruction. Instructional design is the entire process of analyzing learning needs and goals and applying it to the development of a delivery system. This can be done both digitally and physically. Additionally, an important goal of this workshop is to identify what practices are currently taking place in the respective countries that relate to instructional design and what the gaps are in order to identify what is needed for future success.
Teaching & Learning
Presenter: Catalina Tarcaoanu
This workshop provides an overview of the concept/process of teaching and learning, which includes different aspects: predisposition towards learning; the ways in which a body of knowledge can be structured so that it can be most readily grasped by the learner; The most effective sequences in which to present material; and the nature and pacing of rewards and punishments (Bruner, 1966). The workshop presents different historical and contemporary models of teaching and learning. Additionally, an important goal of this workshop is to identify what practices are currently taking place in the respective countries that relate to teaching and learning and what the gaps are in order to identify what is needed for future success.

This workshop provides an overview of professional learning, which refers to the process of learning to earn or maintain professional credentials An important goal of this workshop is to identify what practices are currently taking place in the respective countries that relate to professional learning and what the gaps are in order to identify what is needed for future success.
Refugee Education
Presenter: Mona Younes
This workshop provides an overview of refugee education through an explanation of general refugee needs and situations. It focuses on higher education as a way to empower refugees by giving them the knowledge and skills to live productive, fulfilling and independent lives (UNHCR, n.d). An important goal of this workshop is to identify what practices are currently taking place in the respective countries that relate to refugee education and what the gaps are in order to identify what is needed for future success.
